Manage and Customize Headers in Spectra One
Spectra One is a Full Site Editing (FSE) theme that gives you full control over your site’s layout and design, allowing you to customize headers without needing additional plugins or coding skills.
This guide will show you how to create and manage different headers for various pages or sections of your website using the Spectra One theme.
How to Set up Different Headers
To start setting up and managing headers, you’ll need to access the Full Site Editor in WordPress.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance > Editor (or Site Editor).
This opens the Site Editor, where you can manage global elements like headers and footers.
How To Customize the Default Header?
The Spectra One theme comes with a default header, which you can modify to fit your site’s design.
- Once inside the Site Editor, click on the Header area in the template view.
- You can now add or modify elements within the header using block-based editing.
- Common changes include:
- Adding a logo using the Site Logo block.
- Adding navigation menus using the Navigation block.
- Adding social icons, buttons, or additional styling.
- After making your changes, click Save to apply them to the default header.
How Do You Create Multiple Headers?
To use different headers on specific pages, you’ll need to create separate header templates.
- In the Site Editor, click on the Template Parts option from the left panel.
- Click Add New and select Header to create a new custom header.
- Customize this new header template just like the default header, using blocks like Site Logo, Navigation, or Search.
- Name your custom header (e.g., “Alternate Header,” “Header for Blog Posts”).
How To Assign Headers to Specific Templates?
Once you have multiple header templates, you can assign them to specific pages or templates on your site.
- Go to the Templates section in the Site Editor.
- Select the page or template where you want to use a different header (e.g., the Single Post template or Page template).
- Click on the header area, then choose the Replace option.
- From the list of available headers, select the one you created earlier.
- Save your changes.
How To Assign Headers to Specific Pages or Post Types?
If you want to use different headers for specific pages or post types, follow these steps:
- Go to the Templates section and select a page or post type (e.g., a specific product page or category page).
- In the Header section, click the Replace button to choose your custom header template.
- Save the changes, and this header will be applied only to that specific page or post type.
