Spectra One v1.2.6 – Ready for WordPress 7.1

Hey everyone 👋

WordPress 7.1 changed how the editor works under the hood. The editing canvas now always lives in its own frame, and a few older building blocks were retired. This release makes sure Spectra One feels right at home there, with every editor feature working exactly as it did before.

Let’s get into it.

🔧 Better than before
  • Full compatibility with WordPress 7.1. The theme was audited against the 7.1 release, tested on a live 7.1 site, and now carries “Tested up to: 7.1”.
  • The theme’s editor tools now use current WordPress components. Sidebars and panels load through the latest editor APIs, so your browser console stays free of deprecation warnings. Older WordPress versions keep working too.
  • Smoother typing in the editor. The theme now does less work behind the scenes on every keystroke, which keeps large pages feeling responsive.
  • AI tools can find the theme’s abilities on WordPress 7.1. Spectra One’s AI management abilities now register the new unified public flag, and a single filter (swt_ability_public) lets developers control their exposure across REST and MCP from one place.
🐛 Squashed
  • The title show/hide toggle stopped working on WordPress 7.1. The eye icon next to your page title relied on editor markup that 7.1 removed. It now finds the editor canvas the reliable way. Fixed for good.
  • A large gap appeared between the eye icon and the page title. WordPress 7.1 added extra padding around the title area, pushing the icon far off to the side. The icon hugs your title again.
  • The eye icon tooltips ignored your site language. “Enable Title” and “Disable Title” were stuck in English. They’re translatable now.

If you’ve already moved to WordPress 7.1, we recommend updating as soon as you can.

As always, support is one click away if anything feels off.

Spectra One v1.2.5

Hey everyone 👋

If you’ve been using an AI assistant to change your menus, colors, or templates, this one matters. A few of those tools were rebuilding things from scratch instead of editing them, which meant styling you’d set up could quietly disappear. That’s fixed across the board.

Let’s get into it.

🐛 Squashed
  • Abilities API: Menu updates no longer strip your menu styling. Asking your assistant to update the navigation used to rebuild every link from scratch, dropping the styling you’d applied along with any search boxes or social icons sitting beside them. Existing items now pass through untouched, and new ones pick up the styling of their neighbours. It also works on a fresh install, where it used to fail outright. Squashed.
  • Abilities API: Color changes keep your own swatches. Setting brand colors used to replace your entire palette, taking any custom swatches with it, and resetting heading fonts you’d chosen separately. Colors now merge swatch by swatch, and your typography stays put.
  • Abilities API: Template changes no longer overwrite blocks you’ve customized. Switching a pattern could flatten hand-edited or imported parts of your header and footer. It now stops instead of overwriting. And if your saved Global Styles can’t be read for any reason, the theme leaves them alone rather than writing over them. Gone.

We recommend updating as soon as you can.

Spectra One v1.2.4

Everyone 👋

This is a small but important fix release. It makes sure your Global Styles, your colours, typography, and Additional CSS stay exactly as you saved them.

Let’s get into it.

🐛 Squashed
  • Updating no longer wipes your Global Styles. On some sites, updating could erase saved colours, typography, and Additional CSS. The theme no longer writes to your saved Global Styles at all, so it cannot happen again.
  • AI-assisted theme management no longer clears your styles. Changing your colour palette or typography through AI could wipe everything you had saved. Squashed.

Already lost your styles?

They are recoverable:

  1. Go to Appearance → Editor → Styles
  2. Open the ⋮ menu and choose Revisions
  3. Restore the last revision from before you updated

Then update to 1.2.4. If no earlier revision is listed, restore a backup first. Support is one click away if neither option is available.

We recommend updating as soon as you can.

Spectra One v1.2.3

Hey everyone 👋

This one is all fixes. If you ever set a Min and Max font size in the Site Editor and wondered why your site looked exactly the same afterwards, that was a real bug, and it is gone. We also caught the “Install Spectra” prompts handing people the retired version of the plugin.

Let’s get into it.

🐛 Squashed
  • Font size presets ignored the Min and Max values you set. Fluid sizes under Appearance > Editor > Styles > Typography stayed locked to the theme defaults no matter what you typed, and the Size field showed up empty and greyed out. Fixed. Existing sites keep the sizes they have today, so nothing shifts when you update.

Update when you get a chance.
